Finally, the safe reaches the hall. John and George duck out just in time. Behind the safe, the number of rioters is growing, before long they'll be stronger than the people and will be able to push the safe back.
John gets behind the safe again and starts pushing. The safe is moving more and more slowly as the number of Rioters behind it grows. "We need more power!" He shouts.
"Sorry, George, but now is NOT THE TIME!" John roars, trying to keep the safe in the same spot. "Find something to hold the safe in place, if you're not going to help us push it!"
John sighs in exasperation and points out an ax. "Look, just be fast and hack a straight line through the floor, when the safe is pushed back the bottom side towards us will fall into it and get stuck on the floor- You know what, I don't care if that didn't make sense, just do it!"
The safe was beginning to slide backwards as the number of Rioters on the other side grew.
Now that Riley is helping, John leaves the safe for a second. He grabs the ax and begins to hack a rut into the hard wooden floor. He finishes just as the Rioters give a heave, sending the people pushing the safe flying. It catches on the rut, though, and stops just as suddenly. Already, the floor on the other side of the rut is beginning to give way. "I need some help here!" He shouts. "This isn't going to last forever! Does anyone have any ideas- look for anything you can find! A ladder, a giant metal bar- we need something to stop the safe. I don't know, find Gorilla Glue if you have to!"
"Why don't you just use this fix-all thingy?" he asks, holding out the roll of Duct Tape. "Once, me and my buddy were watching a show on the TV where these guys used this stuff to hold up a car. It should do the trick."

John stares at the duct tape for a second, then shakes his head. "We're going to need a lot more duct tape than that," he says. "Why don't we just try making another, deeper rut, a few inches further away? Unless anyone has any objections..."
After a few minutes, the first rut finally fails. The safe jerks forward, then catches on the second rut, shaking the building. The rut holds for a second, and then the floor, already weakened by the two ruts, collapses under the safe's weight. The floor underneath is barely able to stop the safe's momentum.
Rioters come pouring over the hole and landing a floor down. Once they land, they just get up and go back up the stairs, to fall again.
"Well,' John said slowly, surprised, "That should hold them for a while. At least, until they get the numbers to fill the hole... What should we do now? We can't exactly go back down and it seems like they won't ever get tired of this circle even if they don't ever get up..."
"I don't know. We could look for ropes, or find a ladder... What's with these people, anyway? They seem like, like... Well, I don't want to say the word, but... Do you guys think it would be a good idea to capture one of them and examine it?"
"Yeah... I guess I'm not sure I'm ready to accept that yet... How about we find some kind of net and capture one of them, see if we can kill the disease, if it's that, with antibiotics or something?"
