I won't be spoiling anything about the plot, because I want to keep the story very realistic (your characters shouldn't know much about the zombies), but yes, this is a zombie RP. It's based off of the events in the book, World War Z. Your characters will follow an original plot-line through the world outlined in the book. I will be the narrator and most, if not all of my posts will be in story format. I'll also be controlling my character and all outside characters.
Rules for posts (and decisions):
I can make new rules during the RP.
You can say whatever you want. Put it in quotation marks, though.
Unless the action you're trying to do is very simple, such as "I walk across the room", say "I try to walk across the room." I will then narrate what happens.
My character will act normal, but if I want to affect the way you guys are trying to go, he'll say something. This can be a little confusing. My character can still make suggestions and decisions that are wrong, but when someone is about to make a catastrophic decision he'll say something like, "Hold on. There might be more of those zombies outside." You don't have to listen to what he says, and it may be smart not to, but take it into account.
Don't make extremely dumb decisions.
Well, that's enough rules for now. Here are character creation instructions:
Name:
Age: (22 - 64)
Gender:
Personality:
Appearance:
Occupation:

I would suggest a larger character creation format, such as the one I am using.
Also, it is hard to create a backstory for a character without knowing what is going on in the story so far. You did a brilliant job outlining the format of the posts, but try and set up the setting a bit more.
Name: George Maxwell
Age: 23
Appearance: Black hair, cut to about eyebrow length. He is usually sporting a baseball cap, T-shirt, and dirty jeans.
Personality: Redneck. Usually trying to make jokes. Think Ellis from Left 2 Dead.
Backstory/Occupation: He found oil on his property, (50 acres of field outside the city.) and has quite a bit of money now. He doesn't really use it for anything other than doing stupid things with his buddies, such as attaching a race car engine to an ATV. He doesn't really have any cares in the world, and is very intelligent, but has little to no schooling.

Okay, sounds good. I like appearance and personality, but backstory I intentionally got rid of because... Hm. Well, I might need to rethink this. I was thinking not to add backstory because I wanted to keep the beginning at least kind of secret, but that might not work. So, yeah, I would add appearance, personality, and backstory. Backstory info here: Beginning takes place in New York City. I'm really just picking a random city for this, so I apologize if there are inconsistencies between the story and the real city. Everyone in the RP is starting out inside one of the buildings. You all work for a major company that trades stocks. It's 2013. Possible occupations are Guard, Clerk, Secretary, etc. Most of you won't know a ton about physical work. Actually, most of you might, but most of the people in the building don't. If you feel like your character can't really fit into a job inside the building (even counting Guard and similar jobs) just give him another job and then make him related to or a friend to someone in the building. So, your character would be dropping by at the beginning of the RP. To tie up a few lose ends: I was already planning on getting on because I had forgotten Occupation, so most of what I typed I had already planned out. In addition to name, age, and gender (is gender unnecessary..?) add appearance, personality, backstory, and occupation. Actually, I guess that's it. Thanks!
Yeah, sounds good. You'll need either a good excuse for bringing your dog, or have him show up later or something, though. Sounds good.
EDIT: That actually works out pretty well with the story, so go ahead. Now that you have a dog no one else can, though. At least, not at the beginning.

He doesn't have to be related to you, but it doesn't really matter too much.
Okay, to call attention back to this thread while you guys are on I'm going to start a new post. Now would be a good time to start the RP, while all three of us are on, so I'm going to start it once I'm sure you're still on. Please comment, and say if you can't stay on for long. And as for other people not being in the RP when it starts, I kind of like the idea of new people joining in later. It makes the story more realistic. Sound like a good idea?

I added occupation so that you could say what type of skills your character has, without having to say them. So, for example, if my person was a carpenter he would be very good at making defenses. If he was a... gunsmith?... He could make guns out of spare parts. What kind of talents does your character have? And also, what is he doing inside the building at the start of the RP?

I just realized I don't have a character yet, so here he is. Name: John Smith (ahahahahahahahaha) Age: 35 Gender: M Personality: Straightforward, resourceful, and direct. The common sense guy. Appearance: Physically fit. Brown hair, square jaw, usually wears jeans and a T-shirt. Occupation: He's in the National Guard, has a bit of experience with guns. Works in Customer Service department.
Okay, this is now the OCC thread. Caleb, your character doesn't work at the office. So he shouldn't have been the one to answer the door, or start closing the curtains, especially since the office doesn't have curtains. Say I try, and get in character a bit more.
I apologize if the RP is a little boring right now. In about two or three player posts the zombies will begin to arrive, and then it will get much more exciting.
